Located at Parohe Island Retreat, in a secluded sheltered north facing harbour side  bay in BonAccord Harbour, Kawau Island, Auckland. We have 22 hectares of flat grass , gardens and  surrounded by beautiful native forest. The closest ferry terminal is in Sandspit, just 45 minutes north from Auckland CBD with free parking on site.

The Kawau Cruises ferry from Sandspit to Parohe Wharf runs 5 times a day OR you can book a water taxi (up to 12 people) and has flexible departure times. Arrive by Helicopter (if you must!), bring your own boat (berths available to 80ft), jet ski, paddleboard ….

You have the exclusive use of the entire 22 hectare property, consisting of a dedicated yoga studio or conference space located at The Bend. This space can accommodate up to 30 guests practising yoga or or 45 guests in a conference setting. There are 2 outdoor yoga platforms and the wharf and flat grass for additional outside yoga or other sessions. 

Enchantment consists of a large pavilion space with the fully equipped kitchen, dining areas and a smaller studio. The massage hut, 2 outdoor baths and outdoor  sauna are nearby. We also have a swimming pool and loads of lawn or water-based activities. Included is accommodation for up to 5 staff in 3 rooms , with its own private kitchen, 2x bathrooms and the laundry. 

Our onsite managers can assist with this - including driving your worldly goods in a cart to and from the wharf to your accommodation spaces. We don't allow anyone else to use our vehicles.

You will have full use of the equipped kitchen (you must keep it spotless) or we can cater for you either  by bringing in a chef or using the Parohe menu with as many vegetables and herbs from our natural organic gardens as possible.

There are a total of 17 rooms, each with their own ensuite bathroom; across 10 Cabins, 3 Cabanas, the 3 bedroom Villa and the Honeymoon Cottage. We offer various bedding configurations which allow for 17 couples in king size beds or 28 singles on a twin share basis. An additional 8 rooms can be booked in a neighbouring bay if required.  We also have the 3 staff rooms and 2 bathrooms. suitable for 5 pax.  Normally we like to keep the honeymoon cottage unoccupied as that is a great breakout/common space near the pool.

It is ultimately owned and operated by boutique property owner Equinox Capital Ltd. We have been around for 40 years and as well as owning commercial property, we have built houses, operated and owned a large hotel in the USA and currently own Orakei Bay Village in Remuera, Auckland and Central Lofts airbnb lofts in Queenstown. One of our directors operates a regenerative organic dairy and beef farm on the Kaipara Harbour. When not dry rented or used by corporates we run our own signature wellness retreats at Parohe Island Retreat.

Practitioners Retreats: 

This is an offer for you to run your own wellness retreat. We do food and accommodation . You run the program and use our facilities . You add your required margin to our prices 

Price for 2 nights. 3 days: (8 person minimum)

Accommodation/food - single $600 plus gst

Accommodation /food- shared $500 plus gst 

2 x Staff accommodation and food no charge [for practitioners]

Deposit: 

Initially = $500 

6 months out = $1,000 

Plus Cleaning fee $500 plus gst .

We can offer massage services for your guests at an additional cost. If you bring your own therapist, a $60 fee per massage payable to us applies, or we can arrange treatments at $175 per massage. Our Massages must be pre-arranged prior to the retreat.

Events/Corporates/Weddings: 

This is where you rent the entire property and add on what you want. Perfect for team building, strategic planning, or any type of event including weddings and family reunions 

Dry rent price per night:             (2 night minimum)

10 rooms: $5,000 plus gst

plus $1,000 cleaning  fee

All rooms: $8,000 plus gst

plus $1,500 cleaning fee

Add a touch of wellness:

Massage (booked in advance ) $175

Pilates or yoga session (booked in advance ) $300 for one session or $400 for 2 sessions (includes ferry cost)

Ice baths, sound baths, beauty treatments, reflexology available upon request .

Food 

As at Feb 2026 our Parohe vegetarian catering is $110 plus gst for 3 meals, snacks and fruit per person per day.. For over 10 pax there is an extra $500 staff cost 

Payment terms : Deposit $2500.  Balance one month before

Alcohol : We don't have a license but you can BYO if you must. All evidence must be taken back to the mainland!

All Bookings & Payment

A 50% deposit is required to confirm your booking. Initially 10% then up to 50%, 6 months prior .

Full payment is due 14 days prior to arrival

Cancellations made more than 90 days before arrival receive a full refund 

Cancellations within 90 days forfeit the deposit or it can be transferred to a new date 

Guest Responsibilities

Maximum occupancy limits must be respected

Guests are liable for any damage to property or equipment. No using any vehicles.

Smoking is prohibited 

Plastic, cans and bottles must be removed from the island upon departure

Access & Safety

Guests must follow all safety instructions provided by staff

Swimming and all water and other activities are at guests' own risk

Liability

Parohe Island Retreat accepts no liability for personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property

Guests are responsible for their own insurance coverage

Guests are responsible for organising their own transport to and from Parohe. 

We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove guests who breach these conditions
